Rubber And Meat

Berlin wunderkind duo Jonas Poppe and Sebastian Dasse have left their domestic electro studio and produced their third album "Rubber & Meat" with international big shot Pelle Gunnerfeldt (producer of The Hives, Money Mark, ...) in Stockholm.

The album leads us into the future, into a low club to a dark rock'n'roll party infused with sinister erotic, riot and alert. The guys on stage (on record) control a shimmering mob going to pieces, peppered with young females, strange guys, nerds and hipsters.

That which controls are the stories being told - every single one of them a little drama with an open ending, cynical humor, tastful viciousness and self-mockery. The language those stories are told in is Rock'n'Roll. Nervous eights, beats getting out of hand, chopped-up blues: The sound of this party apocalypse, this strangly undercooled hyperactivity, emanates from the fingers of two riders: Jonas Poppe and Sebastian Dasse, for the first time completed by Joe Dilworth (ex Stereolab & Ad N To X) on drums. This sound comes from all kind of instruments and gushes literally out of the speakers: full, loud, demanding and aggressive. Again and again in their sound & performance, the band seems to be losing control but again and again they retrieve their own stories and the blues. Kissogram are state of the art, the future of rock'n'roll and the future of electronic dance music all at once. In contrast to their electronic contemporaries Digitalism, Justice or Hot Chip they do not only rock or pop the dance floor, but also fill it with chavvy poetry as embraced by great rock'n'roll artists. For Poppe's wit, which now and then reminds of a young Bob Dylan, is too keen as to limit the perception of the music to the volume of the beats.

"wartime, baby, i'm leaving you now
it's like new year's eve, but better somehow
i'll carry your picture near my ha-heart
ah come on, boys, we're gonna ratatata"
(from The Deserter)

"he wore a golden watch which said quarter to twelve
he said i need some dust on my Dior Gucci Chanel"
(from Prominent Man)

short history of Kissogram:
Founded in the late 90ties as teenagers, they conquered the german charts and club charts with "If I had known this before (RMX by DJ Woody).
2004 europe-wide tour with Peaches.
Debut album "The Secret Life of Cap. Ferber" produced by "Gonzales" and featuring among others "Feist" and one of the best pop songs of the decade "Forsaken People come to Me".
After countless club shows all over Europe as well as support shows for "Underworld" Kissogram produced the stubborn opus "Nothing, sir" on their own. With "Rubber & Meat" the band releases for the first time an album which should ensure them a place in the Hall of Fame as well as in the charts. This is Future Pop Music.
